WEDNESDAY

Tammy had a blast on the table saw today.

Today Cheri painted with a brush instead of her fingers.
Today the "girls" got to meet our home owner, Michelle. She has not been able to live in her house since Katrina in "04". We got to hear her hurricane story, about how she tried to get back to her house & neighborhood. It took her 12 hours to go 8 miles and then she had to cut trees that were blocking the road and walk another mile or so to get to the house.  She has been displaced & has bounced around living with family members and is anxious to get back in her home. She has numerous health issues as well, so getting back in her home will enable her to take better care of herself.
Tomorrow we will get an update from Matt's team who have been working for another home owner. He did not take pictures, imagine that....he told me they were working & didn't have time to take pictures. Bill was on Matt's job and came back with his hand bandaged and his arm in a sling. Come to find out that he got stung by a bee.... but, the sling part was just an act.
Janelle & I spent the entire day on our knees pulling staples and laying the vinyl.

We had to use some floor patch to fix the plywood before we could finish the flooring.

Guess what Bill is holding? It's an oven door that he made a new handle for.....Good Job Bill! Hey how did you do that without Henry?  We miss you Henry!

Even though he is deaf, David is an asset to our team . He loves to joke around and even plays Five Crowns with us at night. He asked if he could make us all breakfast on Friday morning too......he is multi talented.

TUESDAY

The new porch roof was complete this afternoon and our guys went to start another job a few miles away.
Cheri did some finger painting again today...yesterday around the new kitchen counter, today around the smoke detector to cover some of the lovely old wallpaper that was showing.
Cheri couldn't pass up this opportunity....Look out Butch!

David and I hanging out.

The girls finished the laminate flooring in the bedroom & I started the vinyl in the living & kitchen.

Dinner tonight at a local hot spot "The Shed". It is a BBQ & Blues Joint and a very interesting place to eat.

Here we are enjoying the atmosphere while waiting for our food .
Writing on the walls and tables is encouraged at this joint. They even give you a marker to leave your autograph.

Gumbo at the French Market in New Orleans on Sunday.

Here is the Angel Tree....Story is that 4 adults and a dog clung to this tree during the hurricane and it actually saved their lives. It is now a memorial inspired by one of the survivors.....look close at the beautiful angels.

This is one of the homes we will be working on this week.

Matt and David ripping off the rotted porch roof.

Bill getting a new sink ready for installation.

Janelle is getting the bedroom floor ready to lay laminate.
Butch & Cheri laying laminate.

Bill is pulling nails that the other guys left behind when they ripped the roof off.

Matt taking a moment to strike a pose on the roof.

Today was David's birthday. Cheri made him a cake and we enjoyed it for desert tonight after dinner.
What a great way to end our 1st work day! Stay tuned for more photos tomorrow.
